Evidence first, then measures that hold up on site

A five-step method that carries safeguard requirements from screening through to monitored implementation.

  1. Assess & Screen

    Review project scope and identify applicable environmental and social safeguard requirements.

    We start by understanding the project: its activities, locations, and stage. From there we screen the scope against applicable national requirements and World Bank safeguard instruments, so the level of assessment and the obligations ahead are clear from the beginning.

  2. Baseline & Risk Identification

    Support baseline data collection and identify potential impacts and key risk areas.

    We support baseline data collection in the field and desk review of existing information, then identify the potential environmental and social impacts and the risk areas that need the most attention during design and execution.

  3. Develop ESIA/EMP Inputs & Mitigation

    Prepare and improve ESIA/EMP outputs with realistic, implementable mitigation.

    We prepare or strengthen ESIA and EMP outputs, keeping mitigation measures realistic for the resources, contractors, and conditions of the project — measures that can genuinely be applied, monitored, and reported.

  4. Training & Capacity Building

    Train implementing partners, contractors, and teams for safeguard compliance during execution.

    Before and during works we train the people responsible for delivery, so safeguard requirements are understood at site level and compliance does not depend on a single specialist.

  5. Monitor & Strengthen Implementation

    Track environmental measures and support corrective actions when needed.

    We track how environmental measures are performing during implementation, document findings, and support timely corrective action so issues are resolved while they are still small.
